Scholarship

The Centre of Excellence on Gender-Smart Solutions supports the development of women leaders who are shaping the future of financial regulation. As a result, the Centre of Excellence sponsors Women’s World Banking and Faculty from Oxford University’s Saïd Business School Leadership Development Program for Regulators (LDR Program).

This multi-week blended learning program equips senior officials and high-potential women leaders from central banks and regulatory agencies in emerging markets with the tools to advance women’s financial inclusion and promote diversity in leadership. By offering scholarships, the Centre of Excellence ensures that women leaders from diverse backgrounds have the opportunity to strengthen their skills and influence the design of inclusive financial systems.

The scholarship covers tuition fees and individual coaching sessions for the duration of the LDR Program. Since 2019, 49 participants from 16 countries have received scholarships through the Centre of Excellence and Access to Insurance Initiative (A2ii).

Why This Matters

Supporting women regulators directly contributes to the Centre of Excellence’s mission of closing gender gaps in Climate and Disaster Risk Finance and Insurance. By strengthening leadership capacity, the programme creates champions for gender-responsive policies that expand financial protection for women and vulnerable populations.

Alumni Experiences and Testimonial

I appreciated the networking and collaboration from my peers sharing experiences. Their experiences were great insights crucial for the progress made by ACAPS to develop a policy to collect sex-disaggregated data, conduct stakeholder engagement and awareness programs for the insurance industry.

With the insights and capacity development from the program, we are developing a policy to mitigate the gender/diversity gap in Ghana’s board representation of (re)insurance companies by achieving at least 30% representation of women on the boards of (re)insurers in Ghana.
